Estoy viendo el primer episodio de The Corner . Hay un momento en que Gary sostiene un libro de Química, uno grueso, un curso, y  recuerdo haber visto al cadenero de Coyote Ugly , un joven gordo y alto, leyendo un libro de introducción a la Química, y por asociación de ideas me acordé de El Alquimista, la catedral del libro usado y de cómo hacen dinero con el fracaso de otros, con los libros que te estorban porque ya te vas, porque ya terminaste o porque tu sueño terminó contigo (has despertado, has recibido tu golpe de realidad). O dicho en palabras de doña Concha: "unos a la pena y otros a la pepena".      ¿Cuál era el sueño de Gary? ¿Cantante de blues, químico? ¿Cuáles son las oportunidades de salir del ghetto negro en Baltimore?
